Different behavior of SQL 2008 SSMS while accessing Linked server database.
I created Linked server on Server SQL01 (SQL 2008 to access DB2 database) and when am accessing this linked server on Host Server Machine (SQL01) that time linked server db name is showing default and while expending tables, it is throwing error, however on client machine linked server name is accessible and also showing db name. This is SSMS setting issue or else please helps me to investigate this issue.
It sounds like a security issue. Two different machines, presumably from two different logins that SQL Server is running under, that's the likeliest culprit without any more information than what you're providing.
