what type of Replication error?

hi we are using snap shot replication in our server last week we have received the following error The subscription(s) have been marked inactive and must be reinitialized. NoSync subscriptions will need to be dropped and recreated. (Source: MSSQLServer, Error number: 21074 if any one knows what kind of error it should be kindly inform me and how to solve this???

ok thanking you for your response. how to set the interval based on the frequency as u mentioned. My snapshot replication have following type of subscription never expire. see figure:![alt text][1] **Note:** **I recently re initilized the subscription**. it can it make the problem now? if yes means what is the solution... Under the Instance name, there is a folder named Replication. Right click on this folder and check distributor properties. There you can set the transaction and history retention. In the above screenshot it does mention that they might get de-activated, so I'm not sure bout that, but I have tried setting the retention intervals in distributor properties and has worked for me...

This means that the subscriptions have expired as they were in idle state for a while. They will have to be re-initialized. In the distribution properties, check for transaction and history retention. By default it is 3 days for transactions and 2 days for history retention. If there has been no activity for this period of time, the subscriptions will expire. You can set this interval based on the frequency with which you are going to distribute data using the snapshot replication. I have tried and tested this solution with Transactional replication. Hope it helps you with Snapshot replication.
