Could not enable logshipping

Error: Could not retrieve backup settings for primary ID 'abfb9a42-207e-451b-968c-3ac29edc16f9'.(Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.LogShipping) *** *** Error: Failed to connect to serverA.(Microsoft.SqlServer.ConnectionInfo) *** *** Error: A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server)(.Net SqlClient Data Provider) *** The following url has the fix: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/sqlsakthi/archive/2012/06/14/error-quot-could-not-retrieve-backup-settings-for-primary-quot-in-log-shipping-backup-job.aspx Is sp_dropserver a stored procedure? Since the old name is stored in the sys.server object, what is the select statement I can use to see the server name.

SELECT * FROM master.dbo.sysservers outputs the server name

From Server B are you connect to Server A via SSMS?

Well, I am trying to connect Server B to server A by SSMB during setting up of logshipping.

check this list 1. ping primary server to stand by and standby server to primary server 2. check both the SQL Server services are started with the same user name 3. firewall setting for both the server 4.telnet the server ip followed with port id
