Initial install of SQL in cluster

During the initial install of SQL2008R2 on a Win2008R2SP1 cluster can I apply the SQL SP1 to the first node before doing the AddNode to extend the instance to the full cluster? (Or must I perform the RTM install, AddNode, and then apply the SP1?) This will be an Active/Active cluster. I'm anticipating installing each of 3 named instances on Server1 and then performing AddNode for each instance, and finally Move'ng the named instances to the appropriate Node. Would this be an appropriate approach?

It can be done in both ways, but I would prefer installing Service Pack before implementing the cluster failover. This way I can skip some issues like "the rule which checks if the DTC is clustered" in RTM release which was then fixed in SP1.
