SQL 2008 licensing...

Hi everyone , question ref licensing if I may. If i install a developer version of SQL 2008 R2 how do I then change that install to a full prod install , with correct paid key etc ? Can I overwrite the license key etc ? Cheers

As far as I know, you will have to run the install and choose to upgrade. The reason is much more than just the license - there are edition differences. For example Developer has the full feature suite as Enterprise, but if you are only running Standard in production, then you will need to update the binaries to 'remove' features.

AS @Kev mentioned. In the installer there is an option Edition Upgrade, where you can enter appropriate license key

Sounds like you already have your answer, I just wanted to add that I used the Setup upgrade feature many times to go from Standard to Enterprise. I have not had any issues with it.
