Sample Effort Estimation of SSRS Reports???????

Hi, I got a new report specification doc to develop the reports,before that i need to submit the **effort estimation sheet.** Please any body help me how to prepare the Report estimation (in my case i need to develop 3 reports-with dill through and drill-down...etc & creating SP`s) For the above requirements how much effort could i give? If possible plz explain the estimation format with sample. waiting for quick response... thanks in advance @nji

Wow - estimation is a skill in itself. And we have no idea of your environment, your processes, your skills. How long did it take to write a previous report? If this is your first time, try and break the task down into manageable chunks: - writing the SPs - building the report structure - adding the data to the reports - tweaking - testing - more tweaking - .... Once you've got the list, then assign a realistic time frame to each one, depending on how long you feel it will take you to do it. Add them up, times by 3 and you've got your first estimate. Don't be worried if it seems too large, you can then look to see where you can refine (for example the 3 reports might all use a similar data set, so writing the first SP may help in writing the subsequent ones, reducing their time taken). Also understand who you are giving this estimate to. A project manager may take your estimates and add in their own contingency factor, regardless whether you have or not. An end-user client may take estimates at face value and assume you are talking duration to completion, not man-hours, so again adjust the final answer to suit.
