TEMPDB LDF size is increasing

Hi

I have a Instance of SQL Server 2000-SP4 in Win2003. TempDB locates in separate local drive. Having 4 Data file, each of 2.5 GB and Growth is restricted. LDF is unrestricted Growth. Two Questions... 1.I need to know why LDF is increasing, although we can't see anything in DBCC OPENTRAN.It is not possible to use SQL Profiler as this is production. 2. Can I shrinck the LDF File on line.

Check out the article I wrote for SSC.

I show a method which you can use to determine the cause of your log growths.

I would not shrink during production hours if you are in a heavy transaction environment with high uptime requirements. You will need to notify the business of the potential for slowness or an outage when you shrink it.
