Query on Drillthrough and Maxrows and how it works?

Hi,

I have a question on MDX in particular Drillthrough. I am using SQL 2008 SP1. We run a query similar to the following: select COUNT(*) from OpenRowset('MSOLAP','DATASOURCE=DVT-SQL\DSS_DVT;Initial Catalog=HR Payroll SAP;', ' DRILLTHROUGH maxrows 1000000 SELECT from [HR Payroll] WHERE ( [Division QH_ALT_7].[Division QH_ALT_7].&[MNTH_ALT_7],[Period].[Fiscal].[Process Number].&[20100919]) RETURN [Payroll Measure].[Amount] as am ') as a.....

and it returns about 80000 rows which is correct, but running the same query with MAXROWs set to 50000 gives me a result of 40000. If I set MAXROWS to say 50, the result I get is 10 rows.

Is this a problem? I don't think so - but i am keen to understand what might be going on and why the results are skewed disfferently. (IE if I set MAXROWS to 50 - surely I should get 50 results?) Many thanks in advance for any help. Cheers.

Scott
