TRANSFER FILES TO CLIENT MACHINES

we generate some reports centrally.these reports have to be sent to branch servers daily which are located remotely through leased lines.it is a lengthy process and takes a hell lot of time.

is there any way to automate this task.

i have figured it out.its simple and neat

1.first map all the client machines.for eg: there are 50 branches .if u have 10 application servers.

then map 10 branches drive per server cause there are some 15 letters u can use for mapping.

2.create a batch file containing dos commamnd (XCOPY) to copy files

3.scheduled it

XCOPY works with UNC paths so you don't have to burn 10 drive letters. For example, you could XCOPY "c:\localpath\ file.txt" "\\remoteserver\share\ file.txt"

Do you mean Reporting Services reports? These can be scheduled to run at appropriate times and emailed to specified recipients as necessary. A few more details and we can offer other ideas.

so what takes the time - the application rendering the data??? I'm a bit confused. My preference would be to have SSRS for reporting and your clients access data via web browser/email etc. Makes best use of the network connection
