SQL Server Licensing
Hi, I have been given the responsibility to prepare a document which compares the licensing of SQL Server 2008, SQL Server 2008 R2, SQL Server 2012. The licensing has changed quite a lot since SQL Server 2005 which is the cheapest in my mind. Like now we would have to deal with cores rather than the CPUs. VMs licenses are handled differently now. All of this my knowledge is at preliminary stage. So any input/correction would be much appreciated. The purpose of the question is to get the guidance regarding how I should go about this. Has anyone got the experience and can share some templates? I do not want to miss any major point. Thanks in advance.

Sorry for getting back late on this and thanks for showing the slightly difficult (seems like) but the correct way. After documenting all what could be required, we are contacting Microsoft.
