Why "Values" required?

Does anyone know why "Values" is required on Arrange Fields when declaring the Row and/or Column Groups when creating a detail listing of a data source. Like, NO totals. And if you do enter a field, it goes on the layout. How to get rid of it. BTW, using RB 3.0. Appreciate any and all answers, I cannot find MS docs that tell me.

Are you using the Table/Matrix Wizard when you open RB 3.0? That is trying to create a table, which will always have at least one detail row with at least one column of data, which is why a Value is required. If you don't want to add one value here, why not create a new Blank Report and add the elements you do want displayed, instead of Microsoft's defaults?

Jes, Thanks! Duh! I automatically do New > Table. Very new at RB. Found Blank this AM. As a side, SSRS setup is a bear. Crystal was a snap compared to report services. Thanks again.
