Getting error after installing SQL server ,error is could not start SQL server browser service on local computer"and system cannot find the path specified.
Hi, I installed MSSQL server 2005 and it was successful but when i try to start the service Im getting the below error: could not start SQL server browser service on local computer and system cannot find the path specified. Please help me out on the same.
You don't mention the environment you are in (standalone instance or clustered), but I found this on google: [SQL Browser Service won't start] - it is about a clustered installation, but may still be applicable to you. SQL Server was installed as a 32Bit version, then as a 64Bit version on the same machine and the registry was not cleared properly. First, check the settings of the SQL Browser in the SQL Server Configuration Manager. Is it disabled? Does the user that is running the browser have access to the location of the binary? Next, follow the instructions in the link I mentioned above, checking the registry for erroneous entries. I imagine that an aborted/broken installation could be the culprit here. :
