Job is either still running or failed.

Hi All Im getting this message after my database restore. this job used to run every day on the database. Message Executed as user: dbo. Cannot start data purge job. Purge job 1181 is either still running or failed. [SQLSTATE 42000] (Error 50000). The step failed.

Sounds like your purge job stores data somewhere, and checks the status - calling RAISERROR if it doesn't like what it sees. There is no such thing as a purge job in SQL Server, so this is something you've added in your implementation. Impossible for us to tell you exactly what it is, but perhaps the purge job was running when the database did whatever it did to need to be restored. I'd find the code that calls this raiserror and see what it is checking. You may just need to reset some data somewhere for that purge job.

Well, there is the syspolicy purge job that ships with 2008+, but that's not what's causing this.
