Can install MSDE 2000A on windows 7 bit 64 laptop.

I am using Fujitsu laptop, windows 7 professional bit 64. I need to install MSDE 2000 Release A desktop engine. I have downloaded and unpacked in to C:\MSDERelA, under this folder setup.ini ( configuration setting) opened by using noted pad the setup.ini contains only [Option]. I have entered SAPWD="AStrongPassword" DISABLENETWORKPROTOCOLS=0 SECURITYMODE=SQL and saved the file. Then i double the setup.exe file on the same directory, i got the popup saying This program has known compatibility issues ([check for solutions online] [Run program] [cancel]) i clicked check for solutions online but i didnt getg ant solutions its says no online solution, then i clicked Run program its starts installing but after some time one more popup says "Unable to determine syste, default collation". then installed get cancelled. Please help me to install MSDE 2000, because of this so manythings on hold.

As far as I know, MSDE, or in fact any edition of SQL 2000, will not run on Windows 7, and this has been the case since Windows Vista. More discussion here :

Do you need the machine to be accessible by anyone other than yourself? If it's just for you, then you could install ["Windows XP mode"][1], and build the MSDE installation on that. [1]: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/download.aspx

This is when a product like VMLITE come into play where you can install a Windows XP VM to load up 2000 on.

any one can help me for the above issue ....? i am also getting same error pls help me "unable to determine system collation "

Get hold of VirtualBox (free virtualisation software), and build a nice friendly Windows 2003 server in it. Then install MSSQL2000 on that. Or install a more up-to-date database engine. After all, SQL 2000 has been around for 15 years and is well beyond extended support.
