Agent Log Error: [LOG] Unable to read local eventlog (reason: 87)

We are using MSSql Server 2005. In the agentlog we are getting the message: [LOG] Unable to read local eventlog (reason: 87)

Im not sure what I should do to correct the problem. Can you pleae help?

Is this a new error or has it been there since installation?

What level of service pack are you running?

Possible this issues was fixed in SP1.

Apologies, but how do i check which service pack we are using. In SQL Server 2000, we had to run a query SELECT SERVERPROPERTY('productversion'), SERVERPROPERTY ('productlevel'), SERVERPROPERTY ('edition'). This just returns the version that i can view in the properties We are using version: 9.00.1399.06
