Briefing of Oracle Network Connections?

Can anybody explain me how the applications will contact the database tables residing on network machines ? Thank you.

Not sure I understand your question. Generally a server hosting a database has a LISTENER program that accepts SQL*Net connections on a specific port #. Java apps will use JDBC to connect, and that's a it's own little story. Can you tell us more about your application?

My application is a webbased application where it needs to interact to a remote machine on the network to connect database for fetching and adding the records. I want to know what is the logic behind transmission of the records over the network. I think you said JDBC port, which is relevant to the network communication.....Any how thank you for attention on this.
