Possibility to Change CHARACTERSET of a database ?

Can anybody tell me, whether we can change the CHARACTERSET of a database. If yes then please explain me the way ?

I don't know your DB version

Please refer to MOS note [ID 234381.1]

Basically it could be done for versions up to 8i this option looks still available but Oracle says do not do it and create database again with right characterset and do export import. Data loss is highly possible if you go 8i way.

Yeah, this is a decision you want to make right at the time you create the database. If you don't have any data, then it's probably no bid deal to change it.

I'm using 9i version. As per my knowledge there is no possibility of changing the CHARACTERSET of a database once it is created. Still want to know if any possibility exists for this.
