SQL in the City - Anyone going?

Stupid phone interface. Can a mod please remove my down votes here? I can't update without an error saying I need to login. I can, It appears, down vote without restriction. A bug for jira me thinks

I won't be there. We haven't been able to send anyone to any conference, since 2008. This year won't be any different.

What a shame. Its tough when there are restrictions like this. Where is home? If you are US then there are SQL Saturdays that might be your best bet, or UK/Europe then there may be a user group you could get to. Lots of stuff is going online now as well. I know of several UK groups that have had big names appear over Live Meeting to do a presentation and answer questions. You miss out on the beer and pizza but maybe you can be a remote attendee in a few of those until things pick up and you can appear in person..?

I live in the Albuquerque, NM area. Occasionally Microsoft may do a developer or IT meeting here, but that's all we've got in the line of freebies. There are no SQL Saturday events in this area.

How about talking with PASS / SQL Community and organising a SQLSaturday? As the saying goes - "Book them and they will come" - especially if there is no free training in the surrounding area.
