Will Upgrade advisor help in SQL Server 2005 32bit migration to SQL Server 2005 64bit and SQL Server 2008 32bit migration to SQL Server 2008 64bit

Hi, I have given an assignment to migrate SQL Server 2005 32bit migration to SQL Server 2005 64bit and SQL Server 2008 32bit migration to SQL Server 2008 64bit. Can anybody help me out in this regard? Or SQL Server Upgrade Advisor will work regarding it. Thanks & Best Regard. Shashi Kumar Singh.

Is there a reason why you are going for 2005*64 rather than 2008*64? 2005 is out of mainstream support now...

No, there is no need for upgrade advisor as long as you migrate from 32 bit to 64 bit editions. Just be aware that there are no 64 bit oledb driver for Excel, but there are workarounds.

I concur with @Håkan Winther. The advantage of 64bit over 32bit is for performance and memory usage. Not feature functionality.
