SSRS as separate Instance

Hi Is it possible to create a SSRS instance Separately? 1. Install Sql Server 2008 R2 Database Engine only. Instance Name: Sql2008 2. Install SSRS as separate instance (SQLSSRS) 3. Create a new SSRS report that uses a database from SQL2008 and publish it to SQLSSRS. Rgds Mohan Kumar VS

That is certainly possible. If this is on the same hardware then I am not certain why you would prefer to do that over using just one instance. If its on two pieces of iron then you will need to buy a license for the report server instance. If its on the same then you 'may' need a new license depending on the way your data server license is purchased.
