Solution Needed

Server at offshore we are using SQLSERVER2008 and as well client is also using SQLSERVER2008. Recently offshore server we have updated to SQLSERVER2008 R2. Recently i took a backup from clinet place and i am trying to restore, it is showing me the compatability issue. I would like to know...what will be the impacts.

You can not restore a backup taken from recent version of SQL Server(in your case 2008R2) to an older version of SQL Server(2008). You have to first upgrade your server to 2008 R2 to be able to restore the backup or consider other methods(using SSIS to move the data) Edit: [Here][1] is a similar thread that involves sql server 2005 and 2000 but the concept is the same. No. You can not restore R2 DB to normal SQL Server 2008.

So the backup you took is from the client @ SQL Server 2008? Then your offshore system is running @ SQL Server 2008 R2? Are you trying to restore the backup you took from the client to the offshore instance of SQL? If all these questions are YES, then it should restore, please provide error messages that you receive.
