I'm don't happen to be getting this with R2, but it looks like may have been fixed in CU3. Here is the specific KB: [ http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2315727][1] [1]: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2315727

I have had this happen on a 2008 R2 DE as well. The only fix has been to close SSMS and reopen. It's a darn pain when it happens.

I'm not so sure that fixes it. According to the Connect item ([ https://connect.microsoft.com/SQLServer/feedback/details/557402/ssms-can-no-longer-create-or-edit-job-steps][1]) people are still seeing this problem. I'm having the same problem but I haven't got round to trying the suggested fix yet. [1]: https://connect.microsoft.com/SQLServer/feedback/details/557402/ssms-can-no-longer-create-or-edit-job-steps
