Master Data Services - Anyone using it?
Hey guys, where I am working now, all of their data is siloed and there is absolutely no integration between systems, and there is quite a lot of time wasted re-entering redundant data that could quite easily be integrated, and that's what I'm here for. But the main problem is that there is no single point of truth for data, which comes to my question, does anyone out there use Master Data Management/Services from SQL Server 2008 R2? If you do, could you please provide some small details? Thanks very much!
Just a quick note. I spoke with a couple of people whilst at the PASS Summit and they all seem to agree that MDS was more hassle than it was worth. They spoke about it being a half-baked product, oftentimes not working at all. MDS and MDM sound like a great idea, maybe it will improve with the Denali release.
Excellent question! I will follow this thread to see the outcome. I am curious about master data services, but haven't even tried it. In Seattle I saw a nice demo of master data services in Denali, and when I can get my first client to implement Denali I will probably push for the master data services.
I've just started on an installation of SQL 2008R2 and am interested in MDS, would like to know what direction it seems to be taking with Denali though if anyone could give their impressions
