Forums verses ASK SSC

Just taking a vote to see who spends as much time trolling the Forums responding to questions as they do on ASK SSC? I have only been spending time on ASK SSC and thinking about doing both. For those doing both, do you find it difficult to manage time between both sites? I noticed that my account isn't linked between the Forums and ASK SSC. Just curious what the rest of you out there are doing.

I spend most of my SSC time on here. I never was a big forum user/poster, so that maybe helped me in the transition over here. The linking of accounts/profiles/identity has been discussed a few times, but as yet is unresolved.

@Kev - Your summary describes my scenario as well.

I am thinking I will spend most of my time in here than the forums. I too am not a huge fan of them, I like the structure of ASK SSC better myself. The fact that if I started up in the forums it would be as if I have had no community involvement on SSC. I still may still do it but I will have to find my niche or at least the category to troll. :)

I'll echo Kev on this. The SSC Forums feel a bit fragmented. I prefer the groups.google interface to public newsgroups to SSC Forums, but don't spend much time in either compared to ASK SSC.

I too spend most of my time here in AskSSC rather than on the SSC forums. No idea why - I do have a Forums profile somewhere as well...

I have only spent time on here. The forums seem to be to busy and confusing. Great to search on for a specific issue but hard to follow otherwise.

Going to throw a little irony in here. I feel that general discussion/polls/votes are better suited to the forums. I see them as conversations and this venue as somewhere to get specific questions answered. That being said, I don't hit the forums like I used to, even though it was mostly in a read-only fashion. Now, if we had a discussions tab beside the questions one up top...

I will join what seems to be the general chorus and say I spend little time in the forums. I will go to the forums for comments on a specific article, but not to generally read questions or answers or posts that are not somehow tied to an article.

I did try and spend a lot of times on forums in the past - but I don't any more. I haven't ever found myself having to 'defend' my words on here, it seems less political, to me, at least.

+1 for less political - I have seen snide comments/discussions on the forums that don't appear here. i prefer ask, it is somehow more relaxed.

I never quite know where to put questions (or do answers) on the SSC forums. When, for example, is a question related to SQL Server 2005 or SQL Server 2008? It makes me feel a bit boxed-in. I really think tags are a better way of giving questions a taxonomy than partitioning the forum. I like to wander aimlessly around ASK rather than home-in on a particular forum on SSC.
