Was there some change to the site that now it's not possible to accept own answers?

This is a bit foggy. The **Self Learner** badge is awarded if you **Answered your own question with at least 3 up votes**. This does not require the answer to be accepted though, just upvoted 3 times or more by other users. Same user can have multiple **Self Learner** badges. I found one example which has own question marked as accepted: [Cant use linked servers in view][1] question by Fatherjack is answered by Fatherjack and is also marked as accepted. However, one of the moderators could actually accept it later or it was possible to do it in the older version of this site and it is not possible now. The somewhat misleading description of the **Scholar** badge states **First accepted answer on your own question**, which means that any user can only have one such badge when accepting someone's answer to own question for the first time ever. This assumption about the scholar badge does not match the info on the site for some reason: the badges page shows **x 443**, but clicking on the badge displays **518 The users have been awarded with badges** after redirect. The page includes some users which were awarded the badge more than once, so I don't know what gives. Oleg [1]: http://ask.sqlservercentral.com/questions/6109/cant-use-linked-servers-in-view

You've put more work into than I have. I'm going to assume you've got it all right. The disparity in numbers was created, at least partly, by the migration from the other software. A number of badges got a bit wonky because of it.

So to be clear.. In this version of site it's simply not possible and an moderator have to accept the answer as you wrote, right?

@Pavel Pawlowski This sounds right. I remember there was a discussion about a month ago when Anuj (Cyborg) had found a solution to own question, posted it as an answer but found no way to accept it :(
