Instance Name SQL2000

Hi, i have another question. I wannt to migrate de sql2000 sever to another server, i have to have the same name and ip, but first i will use anohter name and another ip. If i change after all my configurations the instance name, it causes some fail to the server? or it will be transparent? thanks for your answere.

Maripili - it would be much easier to install the machine with the same name and keep it off the network. Then turn off the old machine and add the new machine to the network. That way you don't have all the extra steps of renaming an installed instance of sql server. However, if you have to have both systems running whilst doing the migration, follow the steps outlined by [Tibor Karaszi][1] [1]: http://www.karaszi.com/SQLServer/info_change_server_name.asp
