Now that we have a variety of tags, is there some way to get the site to filter the front page so that it only shows questions that match one of the chosen "Interesting Tags"?

That functionality is there as an option under the "Unanswered" questions. I wonder it will be added to all the sections.
I don't know the answer to that, but I'm sure the programmability is available.
I just don't think I would want it personally. It's good to see what's recent; and new users, or those who haven't identified interesting tags yet, wouldn't get much under that system.
You can approach this from the other direction, by building up your list of "Ignored tags", then if you go to your to the prefs tab in your account, you can check the box to say "Hide Ignored Tags".
I appreciate that this isn't quite the same as only displaying the tags you're interested in, but its a good first step to removing things you know you definitely aren't.
The benefit of this approach (as I'm sure the StackExchange devs know) is that you don't filter out questions that haven't yet been tagged correctly. So if your interest is purely T-SQL, you will still be able to see T-SQL related questions that don't yet (for whatever reason) have that tag.
No one has followed this question yet.
