Installing SQLServer 2008 express and Studio Management

Hi, I got a new PC running Windows 7. Before I had an older one running XP pro and had sql server 2005 and studio management installed with no problems.Since I have a new pc I tried installing sql 2008 and the graphical interface Studio Management.I get an error message that says that is not compatible with this version of Windows.I triewd everything but I could not install either one.I noticed a lot of people have the same problem. Finally I installed SQL 2005 again and the StudioManagement. Can you helpe and tell me what the problem is? Do you think that now that I have version 2005 will be easier to upgrade? Thanks for your help.

Check to see if your OS is 32bit or 64bit and if the media you have for SQL 2008 Express is for the other version. The only other thing off the top of my head is to make sure when you run setup that you right click and choose to run as Administrator. The user access controls on Win 7 and Windows Server 2008 are a pain sometimes.
