SQL 2008 install disappears after installing the support files

I recently manually uninstalled SQL 2008, now upon reinstalling the install disappears after installing the setup support files. Logs don't seem to show anything. Any suggestions? Installing via command line?

Are you sure you rewmoved all components when you uninstalled first time. MSXML is the one people usually forget. If this is left on the system, you will have trouble reinstalling, especially if you service packed the original install.
