data base connection problem

Hi, i am gowtham working as a application engineer. My query is i can able to login to the applicaiton (developed in .net) but when i am trying to add some data (master data) it is showing "error updating record" wht i the problem. if problem with data base connection how can i able to login to the application. i am using SQL server. please help me... Gowtham K

Post table structure and the code that caused the error

The answer completely depends on the TSQL in question and the structure of the table. You could have a bad update statement or you could be violating a constraint or you could have a trigger that is causing issues. There's no way to know for sure without being there and seeing what you're seeing.
