StackOverflow (SO) is overflowing with questions not specific to SQL Server. But ask.sqlteam.com is specifically and specialize on SQL Server only.
When somebody has a question or an urgent issue, why does he or she post all over the forum ? Isn't posting the question in a single forum site sufficient ? One of the main reason is that the poster expect an answer fast and it is not necessary all forum site will be able to provide a solution to the question. You may see it like seeking 2nd opinion.
Another reason is the experts or the person with the answer to your question may not visits the particular forum that you posted.
so in summary, not everybody - visits the site you posted - be online or might be away - knows the answer to your question or problem
And all site are different. And all site have it's distinct culture, feel and look and it is a community by itself. Not everybody belongs to the same community.
Yes. But stackoverflow is for all technologies. Whereas this is to SQL Server only What is wrong with having a specific forum for this? Do you also think no forum should exist other than stackoverflow?
