errorlog writer

LogWriter: Operating system error 21(The device is not ready.) encountered. what kind of error is this? why? please advise corrective action. Rgds, Ajit

Ajit - as stated in yourother question: [ http://ask.sqlservercentral.com/questions/19822/errorrelatedto-os][1] you need to make sure your server hardware is ok. I think you may be having some disk or disk/raid controller problems. I suggest you check these out before trying to fix errors that arise through the OS error message. Good point! +1 He was talking recently about trying to reduce filegroup/file sizes in his database
