Can we Restore the backup of 2008 in 2005 server

Dear All, I Have an Issue in restoration , I have installed the SQL Server 2008 and due to Space issue we take Compress backup (*.CNB Format) , one of our Client have SQL Server 2005 Version and he need the backup file for restoration for some testing purpuse. So Can We Restore Compress Backup in SQL Server 2005 . Thanks Basit Khan

No, You can't Restore the backup of higher versions of sql server to the lower version. Better generate the DB, table, etc Scripts from sql server 2008 and run it on the 2005 Server, later use IMPORT/EXPORT Wizard or BCP or SSIS packages to ship the data

You can also use tools like Red-gate compare and Red-gate datacompare or tools from Quest software ( I can't remember the name of it). The tools are powerful and not that expensive if you buy Red-Gate Toolbelt that contains Refactor and SQL Prompt. These tools can speed up you development and release process. Now it sounds like I am sponsored by Red-Gate, but I am not. :)
