Cannot connect to Report Server from client through Internet Explorer
Hi. I have just installed SQL Server 2008 Enterprise (SP1) on Windows 2008 Standard and have setup Reporting Services using the Reporting Services Configuration Manager. The Service Account for SSRS is a domain user (admin privileges) and the remaining settings are the defaults (port 80, no SSL). Once the setup was complete, I tested SSRS by connecting to http://machinename/ReportServer and http://machinename/Reports with IExplorer and SSMS locally on the machine and everything seemed fine. As soon as I try connecting from another machine, I wait for the authentication request but it never appears and I get an error "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" after about 20 seconds. I have tried connecting to http://ipaddress/Reports or http://ipaddress/ReportServer but get the same error. Does anyone have any ideas what could be wrong? I have not setup IIS, because I believe that SSRS in Sql 2008 doesn't need IIS anymore, right? Many thanks for any ideas.
open the SSRS Configuration Manager doohicky and check the Report Manager URL value. Its actually a clickable hyperlink that should take you to the RM home page. If it works on the server copy|paste to other client. If that fails then Jonlee's shot may well be on target
