SQL Server 2000 and 2008 on same XP machine

I have read on this forum that SQL 2000 and 2008 can be installed on the same machine, and one post mentioned that they have to be named instances. I already have 2000 installed on the machine as a default instance. If I install a named instance of 2008 will this work, or do I also have to reinstall 2000 as named?

You can just install a named 2008 instance, it will be fine.

@Jonlee Lockwood - yep - although I've not had any problems on a dev machine (touch wood!)
