SQL Express Licencing

Hi all,

This may seem dumb, please bear with me..

I know SQL Server Express can be used free in a corporate environment but I need to be fully clear on limitations i.e. 1 physical processor and 1Gb of RAM. Will the installation auto throttle the RAM allocated and don't most servers now incorporate multiple processors?

I just don't want to contravene terms of use for MSSQL.

Your answers are greatly appreciated, Will

You don't really need to worry about Express too much, because Express will limit itself to what it's allowed to do. Of course, read the EULA to make sure you agree to the terms in there, but in terms of limitations - Express will take care of that for you.

Some extra details while comparing with other licenses check: http://www.microsoft.com/sql/prodinfo/features/compare-features.mspx?PHPSESSID=0324345d45ef1bf1f764044e03584cd0

But as Matt said, you dont need to worry much about using more of "express" then you should, basically everyone of us tries to extract more and more out of it anyway...
