[meta] who are our admins

Who apart from Rick Ross is an admin here? We can't rely on OSQA guys to make all our changes? Can we? There presumably is someone, Red Gate based, that has this level of access? A lot of the 'differences' that we are seeing since the swap, can be fixed by the admins, as they are simply styling or config.

Alice and Chris from Red Gate are, and I believe I am. Please ping me at SQLServerCentral (sjones) if you need something and I have missed it.

But you only have one diamond.

Just for the record, @Grant was correct, but I added admin status to Steve's account (he had two accounts, and the other already had admin status.)

Ha, see, I only need one diamond (and a hotline to the owner)

Anyone with 2 diamonds after their nickname is an admin. Anyone with 1 diamond is a moderator. I would **LOVE** for some of the active community leaders to have admin permissions in order to make tweaks and do maintenance.

It would be rather nice if we can elect someone to be an admin. I believe that Alice and Chris, from Publishing at Red Gate, are admins. I think that someone from the Web team at Red Gate is also an admin. I agree, though that we ought to have one or more from the ASSC community to do this too. Kev would be a great choice!

I'm happy to stay as a moderator (once we've got the additional non-admin mod powers sorted), not sure I'd be the right person to be a fully fledged admin going forward as I would expect that to be someone at Red Gate, who is paid to look after the site, but it sounds like we already have that. Would love to see more communication with those guys, and even participation on the meta.osqa and jira.osqa sites. If the only way to have the old mod powers is to become an admin - then I'll do it, but only if the community wants it.

If Kev wants to do it, more power to him, but I agree, I'd expect it to be someone who has it as an actual responsibility.

Agreed, then. The best choice might be to make sure that the moderators can contact the existing admins easily. I'll just check for certain who they are, and make sure that the moderators have a clear line of communication with them.

All the existing admins are still there and Alice will remain the primary source of contact. The Red Gate web team are still admins too. None of them felt particularly 'fully fledged' (Kev's words) when I asked them! The admin interface is quite different, evidently.

Check the users page and sort by oldest . . . seems most admins are there on the 'oldest' page. Whats the difference between being an admin and 'getting the admins tools' that I have heard of when you get 10k karma? I see Matt and Grant are not "2 diamond admins" but dont know if they were on StackYadaYada. @Matt. @Grant - Have you guys lost the force?

@Fatherjack - some, yes. We were previously moderators. But currently on OSQA moderators have less functionality. I did open up a question on meta.OSQA asking about some more functionality but some guy closed it without really bothering to read it properly, it would seem.

Yeah, they've stripped me of my powers... darn that gold kryptonite. But since I never used them, I don't really miss them that much. I think it's up to Red Gate to determine the levels of access, the ability to edit or control the group, etc., that they want to expose to just some guy that a few of them have met at dinners they paid for, you know? I'm easy either way. I just miss being able to walk through walls.

Certainly there is no intentional "dressing down" of any user, but I think StackYadaYada and OSQA differ in how moderation works. We're taking a closer look at the old way to see which bits of it we should incorporate. Everyone with a diamond after their name can do everything a non-admin can possibly do. We don't have any automatic triggers like "get 10K karma, become a moderator" but maybe we should. The problem is that we have watched cheaters on other sites race for karma. @Grant Fritchey, you should be able to edit, delete, close, vote, comment on any post. Non-moderators cannot do that. Maybe we haven't made it clear enough that you're using your superpowers? Of course, we will gladly consider adding new superpowers if it helps the mods tend the garden better. :)

@Matt - not sure if you've seen, but that user on meta.osqa has asked you to add your question as an answer to the other question, if you get what I mean.....

Edit, delete and close is all I ever did previously, so in terms of what I've done, that's probably fine. I think the question is still open, and in Red Gate's hands, is that all they want moderators to be able to do? If so, are they happy with the set of moderators and administrators or do they want to rearrange those groups? Again, not my call. I'm just saying, the previous set of privileges was higher. I could dodge bullets.

I thought I had commented on questions but currently all I get is the page jumping to the top. Not being able to comment is like having my mouth Duck Taped up!!! mmffff gnpmfff ...

@Fatherjack, there's no karma-related problem - you have more than enough! This sounds suspiciously like a javascript issue to me. Could you send us a problem report to support@osqa.net and provide us with details about your OS, browser, and browser version. Also, do you have javascript disabled in any way?
