Questions for a DBA Professional
1. What DBMS (database management system) do you usually use in your day by day work?
2. What are your task as a DBA in your Work?
3. What is the salary range for a DBA? (approximately)
4. How do you actually “protect” the information in you DB?(tips)
5. How do you “maintenance” your DB?
Uh, no... these are typical interview questions and I don't help people find out what they should already know when it comes to such questions.
I don't mind answering questions about my job as a DBA but your questions are way too general. I could write an essay and it still wouldn't be a sufficient answer.
To elaborate on why your question is too vague.
- Salary range: Are we talking about a junior DBA or a senior DBA? In which country? Is on-call duty included in salary or not? Are we talking about office hours or 24/7 shift-operations?
- Tasks: I have worked as application DBA in shops where there's a 3rd party doing 24/7 operations and I have worked in shops where I am part of the 24/7 operations. DBA is note one job. Tasks will vary.
- What DBMS: This of course depends on both my own skills and the employer's/customer's setup.
- Protect information: Are you the application DBA or are you running technical operations of the servers?
- Maintenance: Which DB? Which role do you have?
I add these bullet points just to clarify your questions can't be answered in this format.
When asking questions, be specific. Trying to get me to describe the ins and outs of my day-to-day job doesn't fit the Q&A-format very well.
