How can I solve the problem of installing SQL Server on Windows?

Hello,

I have installed different versions of SQL Server in my laptop (Asus X44H), but here is the error -> (provider: Named pipes provider, error:40- could not open a connection to SQL Server)(Microsoft SQL Server, Error:2) SQL Server instance MSSQLSERVER could not be installed, I don't know why! (I checked that in services.msc, there is no MSSQLSERVER), I have also changed my windows-10 but the issue has not been resolved yet. Any Solutions? Thanks.

Which Edition of SQL Server did you (try to) install?

Thank you so much John for your response, I have changed my Windows-10 home to W10 Enterprise, and the problem has been solved. Thanks.

I have installed SQL Server 17.9 & 18.1 & 18.3.1 & 18.4 and also 2016 but non of them worked.

Those sound like version of SQL Server Management Studio, not a SQL Server instance itself. Are you attempting to install on a Windows 10 machine? What does it say in the windows log or the bootstrap log of SQL ?

Why didn't you just install the Developer's Edition of SQL Server?

Hey Jeff, the problem was my Windows Edition I think, and SQL Server was installed on Wondows-10 Enterprise.
