Currently, our NAV 2013 database has been growing up, it about 1TB now and running on SQL server 2008 R2 in windows server 2008 R2 enterprise edition, we would like to check if there any best practice of database backup at this size.

Recommend SQL database backup for db size 1TB
SQL Server native backups at that size, assuming you've enabled compression, depends on the speed of the storage that's available. The backup speed may be acceptable if you have the good stuff.
If that's not fast enough, then stripe your backup to multiple files on multiple devices.
If that's not fast enough, then you may need to get some more expensive storage and look at some alternative methods. But make sure you fully understand the implications.
