Server CU Patch Upgrade on Synchronized Database

I have SQL server 2012 with synchronized database (like Active and Passive) the Server 1 is for Application uses and server 2 is Read only. now i want to upgrade the SQL server patch for the server 1 and will it impact synchronization. from Microsoft SQL Server 2016 (SP2-GDR) (KB4293802) - 13.0.5081.1 (X64) to Microsoft SQL Server 2016 (SP2-CU7-GDR) (KB4505222) - 13.0.5366.0 (X64).

Can you clarify? You mention Active/Passive and those are clustering terms and wouldn't facilitate a readable secondary. Also, you mention 2012 but reference 2016 CUs?

Dear John,

Sorry for the confusion, it is SQL Server 2016 only. Current version is (SP2-GDR) (KB4293802) - 13.0.5081.1 (X64) to Microsoft SQL Server 2016 (SP2-CU7-GDR) (KB4505222) - 13.0.5366.0 (X64). it is Synchronized database using Always on High Availability. if i update the mentioned patch in Server 1 will it impact the synchronization and do i need to update the server 2 when both are running because this patch does not require any restart.
