How can a query be blocked by another query with no common objects?

I am seeing some strange blocking on my one database. The query blocker does not share any common objects with the query it is blocking. It shows LCK_M_RS_S on an index that has nothing to do with the blocker. Please let me know what other information to provide to get some help.

How are you determining the wait type for the query that is being blocked?
