AAG readonly database after failover

While failing over the node 1, the apps not able to connect to node 2 as the databases are in read-only mode. Am not sure if the listener is able to perform the failover correctly though it's configured well. Any suggestions/advice is much appreciated. Thank you so much.

Are the apps connecting to the listener, or going to the server?
