Hidden Items in SSRS 2016

Hi

We have just gone to SSRS 2016 and have noticed differences in the managing of hidden items on the report server. In 2008 ordinary users (browsers) couldn't view them as they couldn't choose Show Details but now there is a View Hidden Items option on the menu which seems to be available for all which seems crazy to me as there are certain things we need to hide from users!

Does anybody know how to hide this option please?

Thanks :-)

Simon

I've only briefly used SSRS 2016 so far and hadn't noticed that. There's a good chance I'll be using it in earnest at the end of the year for a client, so wanted to see what I could find out before it's a problem for me!

You've probably already Googled it to death yourself. But, I've found this post [MSDN Forum] which indicates that the issue should have been fixed in 2016 SP1, as well as installing the latest CU. Do you have both installed?

It also mentions about just using the security groups to stop people seeing reports that they shouldn't. Which in hindsight is probably the better thing to do.

Thanks so much for reply :) Yep I have googled to death I admit, and the issue that appears to have been resolved in 2016 SP1 is turning off viewing of hidden items as a default. But the option is still there if someone starts clicking around a little bit. I have used the Security Groups a little bit but what about the issue of sub reports which I love! I can't restrict access to these as the link from the main report wouldn't work I don't think but having all of them hanging around in a view hidden items type style like grey ghosts, while it looks cool to me, will just puzzle the users and I am just trying to head it off at the pass really. It is an aesthetic thing and also a preference I guess.
