We have faced a issue in logshipping in the morning. the restore job was failed at 11:38 and more than 146 log backups pending for restore. we tried to restore manually the logbackup happened at 11:38 but it failed. we skipped that backup and restored the nex backup which restored successfully.
we are not sure what was wrong with that 11:38 backup in logshipping. can any one help in providing light on this.
what was the error when you manually tried to restore the log backup?
Normally as per LSN it should restore the 11:38 backup as well but it havent happened thats the confusion we have. and hte size of the backup we can see is 1kb which is really astonishing where as min size we get is 4500kb
it was resoring with the help of red gate and the error is like there is no space on some backupfile and a number it gave ex backup_1236579890

we found the reason, on one of the Redgate tool logs we found the following
Warning 170: Log files are not in sequence: 'xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.sqb' and 'xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.sqb' and
Warning 170: No LSN information contained in file: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.sqb which i highlighted with 2kb.
again the question here is why these files are not in sequence what are the causes that nake the logbackups not in sequence.
You may be better asking the question to Redgate support, as you are using their tools to do the backup and restore.
