I am trying to set up a SQL Server 2017 'workgroup' failover cluster instance.
The Windows Server Failover Cluster is installed and I've created a CLUSTER using SERVER1 and SERVER2.
When attempting a new SQL Server failover cluster installation though I get stuck during the section: 'Server Configuration'
Specifically it appears to require that the service accounts are 'domain' accounts. This seems to defeat the purpose of a 'workgroup' failover cluster.
Is this a bug with the installer? Is there any way to work around this?
In the meantime I suppose I will start investigating database mirroring between stand-alone workgroup instances instead. :(
