Automating Availability group patching

Hi All, Does anyone have any run with **automating** the installation of SQL Server CU's and other security updates on instances hosting Always On Availability groups? I like to get this information and evaluate how reliable it will be or if this is something better left done manually like currently done. Thanks.

Is this a production server, or a development/test server? Is it a pet, or is it cattle? - https://www.theregister.co.uk/2013/03/18/servers_pets_or_cattle_cern/ Does it really matter if something goes wrong with an automated approach?

@ThomasRushton - I would say Pets :-) There are both Production and PreProduction servers. I will be looking at testing this approach on the Pre-Production first. Yes, no one is going to lose billions but there be some very bad user experiences in education domain if not treated quickly.
