Migrating 2008 R2 databses which are part of replication to a new server

We are in the process of migrating databases of SQL server 2008 R2 to new hardware and they are part of replication (publisher/Distributor/Subscriber) what is the best method to setup replication on new serer without creating snapshot. I have tried sync_tye= 'Replication support only ' while creating subscription but new articles do not get replicated any suggestions?

I set this up a long time ago so bit rusty. I have not done it without a snapshot either. Having said that, I think by logic, you are required to have a database with exact schema and correct replication user setup. So I would try to script your publisher and create it at subscription end and take it from there.
