What version of SS Express should I install?

Although I have 64-bit at home, so I could install SS Express 2016 there, I don't have 64 at work. I'll be the owner of a new SS 2014 database and web application soon. [I've been off SS since 2015, working in DB2 and Oracle. I want to get my skills updated to hit the ground running at go-live.] Most of the SS Express posts refer to 2005! Why not install SQL Server developer edition? It's now free. The only reason I can think of for not going down this route is that your home machine is still stuck on Win7..
