Distribution & LogReader Agents

I am looking for how the SSA Jobs for Replication are showing Succeeded for Last Run Outcome and a date for Last Run. The Step 2 of the Distribution Agent is set to run Continuous. If you stop and start the Agent it will show Cancelled for Last Run Outcome but does not change the date for Last run. I ask this question to better understand why or what is setting these values for the Agent used in Replication. I understand that the Snapshot Agent will start and complete. That one I understand.
